One perspective is never enough
Many organizations try to resolve tensions and polarization by focusing on one side of the story.
- More information
- More meetings
- More positions.
What I do differently
With my Multiple Perspective Approach I don’t just look at what is being said but especially at what lies beneath it. I map out:
- which perspectives exist alongside each other
- where they clash, friction arises, or they miss each other
- and where there is still room for connection
Not to eliminate differencesbut to make them understandable and workable, so people can collaborate again, even when they disagree.

From analysis to practice
The Multiple Perspective Approach is not a model that stays on paper. I apply it in practice:
- in tensions and/or polarization within neighborhoods and communities
- in teams where trust is under pressure
- in policy issues that are stuck
- in conversations where emotions run high
Always with the same goal: turning insight into movement.
The power of the middle
In my book The Cohesion Field – The Power of the Middle I elaborate on this further. I show that the solution to polarization does not lie in choosing a side but in strengthening what often remains invisible: the middle.
Not as a compromise but as a place where:
- relationships are built
- differences can coexist
- new meaning emerges
The middle is not a weakness, it is an active force.
How we work (3V Model)
In my approach, you don’t move linearly from A to B. You can enter at any point, but in practice I often work through three movements (the 3V Model):
1. Explore (Verkennen)
What is really going on?
We map the situation:
- facts and perceptions
- visible tensions, polarization and underlying dynamics
- actors, interests and triggers
So it becomes clear what you are truly dealing with.
2. Deepen (Verdiepen)
Why does this keep coming back?
We go one layer deeper:
- which patterns sustain the situation?
- where is mistrust, pain or lack of recognition?
- which perspectives are not being heard?
So you don’t just react but understand.
3. Connect (Verbinden)
What is possible here?
From insight, space emerges:
- for different conversations
- for new forms of collaboration
- for decisions that are supported
So tensions and polarization don’t disappear but become workable.
No quick fix… but real movement.
This way of working asks something of you.
- No instant solution.
- No standard approach.
But it delivers something you don’t get from isolated interventions:
- more grip on complex situations
- stronger relationships, even under pressure
- and the ability to act when it truly matters
Do you recognize this?
Then it’s time to look differently.
- Not harder—broader.
- Not faster—sharper, from multiple perspectives.
